Thymosin Alpha-1 (Tα1) is a 28-amino-acid peptide naturally secreted by the thymus gland that plays a central role in T-cell maturation and immune modulation. It is FDA-approved in over 35 countries (as Zadaxin) for the treatment of hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and as an adjunct to cancer immunotherapy and vaccines. In the US, it remains an investigational compound. Tα1 has been studied extensively for its ability to enhance T-cell function and innate immunity without overstimulating inflammatory pathways — an unusual immunomodulatory profile with therapeutic potential in chronic infections, cancer, and vaccine enhancement.
