Very short (minutes); stability enhanced by oral/topical delivery

Molecular Weight

KPV is a tripeptide (Lys-Pro-Val) corresponding to the C-terminal sequence of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). While α-MSH itself has a broad spectrum of melanocortin receptor activities, KPV retains the anti-inflammatory core activity with a dramatically simplified structure. KPV inhibits NF-κB signaling and pro-inflammatory cytokine production, producing potent anti-inflammatory effects particularly in intestinal epithelial and immune cells. Its small size enables oral bioavailability when formulated appropriately — a significant advantage for gut-targeted applications. Research has focused primarily on inflammatory bowel disease, colitis, and wound healing.
