Hexarelin is a synthetic hexapeptide GHRP (growth hormone-releasing peptide) and one of the most potent GH secretagogues developed. It produces GH pulses larger than those from GHRP-2 or Ipamorelin, but at the cost of meaningfully elevating cortisol and prolactin — limiting its suitability for long-term protocols. What distinguishes hexarelin from other GHRPs is its direct cardiac activity: hexarelin binds CD36 receptors on cardiomyocytes independently of GH secretion, demonstrating cardioprotective effects in animal models of ischemia. This dual GH-secretagogue and cardioprotective activity makes it an interesting research subject beyond body composition applications.
